Shooting began this week in VancouverJuly 9th, 2008
It was odd not returning immediately to join Smallville and begin their 8th season. I have been chatting with some of the cast and crew and it sounds like things are going swimmingly. It seems like a lot of past guest stars will be making returns, especially those 'Justice League' boys. I am also happy to report that the lovely Alaina Huffman will be returning as the sexy Black Canary again this year.
At the soundstage in Burnaby, BC, the construction and esign of the new twon of Smallville set is complete and its incredible. It looks like a square block plunked right out of comic-book Kansas and will certainly make for some additional stunning visuals. On that note, they are shooting this season all in digital HD- thats right folks- no more 35 mm film for Smallville. Its amazing how many TV programs have gone this route, but it sure is cheaper and allows for a LOT more shooting to happen on any give day.
I also had a few text message excahnges with Mr. Rosenbaum and I am pretty certain he will NOT be returing- no matter wht they say. He's quite happy to be home in LA at the moment, and even quelled a rumour that he would be returning to the Vancouver area soon to be shooting the feature, 'Cats and Dogs 2'.
Looks like I'll just have to go down there to visit him myself.
Stargate returns from their summer hitaus next week, and I'm curious as to what scripts may have developed. I actaully missed an episode they were shooting at the end of May becasue I was away shooting my doc in Russia at the time.
